Girls Gotta Run Foundation (GGRF) is an all volunteer charitable organization founded in 2006 to raise money to provide support for impoverished Ethiopian girls who are training to be professional runners. In addition to providing funds for running shoes, GGRF provides money for training clothes, extra food (calorie money), coach subsidies, and other training-related expenses.

Girls Gotta Run Foundation empowers young women runners and their communities by providing them with the resources needed to reach their athletic, educational and individual goals.

Since its establishment, GGRF has provided tools and resources for almost 50 female athletes, funded the establishment of four running teams and developed a community of partners working to support female runners in Ethiopia. GGRF works closely with local actors in Ethiopia who provide the experience and knowledge needed to create effective programming. As a result, GGRF programs in the Simien Mountains and Addis Ababa have become self-sustaining projects.

GGRF looks forward to expanding programming in Bekoji and establishing a project that develops greater economic security, educational opportunities and support networks for women runners and the greater community of Bekoji.
